NYK Line Launches World’s First NH3-Fueled Tugboat with Danfoss IXA Analyzer MES 1001
In a groundbreaking collaboration with the Japanese government and other organizations, NYK Line has unveiled the world’s inaugural tugboat powered by ammonia (NH3), marking a pivotal moment in sustainable maritime technology. This achievement is made possible with the integration of the Danfoss IXA Analyzer MES 1001, a cutting-edge tool designed to measure and monitor NOx and NH3 emissions and ensures environmental compliance.
Thomine Rohr, R&D Director, and Steen Jensen, Sales Manager of Danfoss IXA, recently attended Sea Japan to extend their congratulations to NYK Line on this innovative milestone. The vessel’s construction aligns with NYK’s commitment to sustainability, utilizing NH3 as a cleaner marine fuel.
The MES 1001 analyzer plays a critical role in monitoring NH3 slip, enabling NYK Line to effectively manage and reduce emissions. This development represents a significant step forward in the maritime industry’s transition towards eco-friendly fuel alternatives.
